Aadhaar Card is the most essential document for proof of identity and address. If you are looking to update your address on it, you can easily do so online.

Aadhaar Card is the most important document an Indian citizen holds today. The 12-digit Aadhaar number issued to bona fide citizens of the country by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on behalf of the Central Government serves as proof of their identity and address. But, it has a more profound role in citizens' lives. It's key to accessing essential services and a shield against identity-related fraud.

You can enrol for the Aadhaar card at one of the Aadhaar Centres near you. Applying for Aadhaar Card is a straightforward procedure, and equally convenient are the ways to update your information, including a change of address.

You can update your Aadhaar card address online through the official Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal provided by UIDAI. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Log in with your Aadhaar Card, and you will receive an OTP on your registered cellphone number. You may have to solve a CAPTCHA to go to the next page.
  2. Choose the Update Address option and proceed to the next step.
  3. Enter the new address along with the documents supporting your new address. These may include a registered rent agreement, passport, bank statement etc.

If your Aadhar is Biometric enabled, you may have to visit the nearest Aadhar Center to update your personal information. Upon successfully submitting the data and the necessary documents, you will receive an Update Request Number (URN), which you can track online on the official website or through the customer contact center by quoting the URN.

Please note that the Aadhaar website and processes to update personal data keep updating periodically. You may have to visit the nearest Aadhar Center or the official website for updated information.
