This article describes the different ways to obtain a PAN card.

You can apply for a PAN card offline or online. Additionally, requests for updates or corrections to PAN data can be submitted online. The easiest approach to get a PAN is through the online process. The applicant merely needs to complete and submit the online application form together with online payment of the appropriate processing fee. After that, copies of the necessary documents can be mailed to NSDL or UTIITSL for verification.

Online Application for PAN Card

PAN card applications can be submitted online on the NSDL website or the UTIITSL website. Both have been granted permission by the Indian government to issue PANs or to make changes/corrections in the PAN on behalf of the Income Tax Department.

How to apply via NSDL Website

Step 1: Go to the NSDL website and choose the "New PAN Indian Citizen (Form 49A)" PAN card application.

Step 2: Fill out all the details.

Step 3: Pay the necessary fees. Depending on the method you select for having your PAN card sent to you, there are different PAN card application fees. Demand drafts, credit/debit cards, and net-banking are all acceptable forms of payment. With the help of the acknowledgment you receive following a successful payment, you may keep track of the progress of your application. It will also be sent to your email address.

Step 4: Send the necessary paperwork to the NSDL office in Pune through courier or postal service. The processing of the PAN application by NSDL would begin only after receiving the required paperwork. The PAN card will be issued in 15 days after the NSDL has verified the application and supporting papers.

Applying for a PAN Card Online Using the UTIITSL Website

Step 1: Fill the PAN card application available on the UTIITSL website.

Step 2: Pay the application fee. On successful payment, acknowledgment will be displayed and also sent to your email address.

Step 3: Within 15 days of submitting Form 49A online, deliver the documents to the UTIITSL office by courier. The UTIITSL will process the application and supporting documents and issue the PAN card in 15 days.
